Resources

There's a wealth of information here from veterinary behaviour experts about how to create courteous cats, delightful dogs and even birds on their best behaviour!

For specific advice about your pets behaviour, owners should talk to their veterinarian, especially if there's a problem - the sooner you take action, the easier it will be to fix.

Vets who want to participate in Polite Pets Month can also communicate with their local community and let them know about all of the creative ways their practice will be promoting Polite Pets Month.

Download the Polite Pets Month media release template, fill in your details and send it to the local media in your area.

It's also a good idea to get in touch with an accredited trainer that uses reward-based training techniques. The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) was established to enhance the human-dog relationship by educating trainers, other animal professionals and the public, and advocating dog friendly training.

To find an accredited trainer in your area visit the APDT website.

The AVA's Pets and People Education Program (PetPEP), is a community education program educating school children and the community on safety around animals, responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.

More information and resources can be found on the PetPEP website.

Our veterinary behaviour experts have also created an in-depth resource for dog trainers about reward-based training and how to ensure to get the best results from training efforts.
