Hill's AVAPM Practices of Excellence
The AVA Practice Management special interest group and Hill's Pet Nutrition are proud to provide an award to recognise veterinary practices that deliver outstanding service to their clients. Two practices (one small animal and one large animal, mixed, or equine) will be awarded each year.
Nominations will be accepted from any practice in Australia where the principal veterinarians of the practice are all AVA members. Finalists must be AVAPM members to be considered for the award.
Previous winners of this award are not eligible to reapply for a period of three years, however previously unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to apply again.
You can nominate your own practice or be nominated by industry representatives, other veterinarians or your clients (members of the public).
The awards now offer a combined prize pool of more than $12,000 in continuing professional development prizes, as well as the kudos that come from taking out Australia's best-known and most prestigious veterinary business prize.
Please note that although all AVA practices may enter and receive feedback on their practice - winners will either need to be current AVA Practice Management members, or become so in the final stages to be eligible to become a winner.
FREE PRACTICE HEALTH CHECK - All entrants receive a free AVAPM practice health check to help them focus and plan their businesses.
Successful practices will receive:
- over $2,000 AVAPM continuing professional development vouchers
- over $1,500 HILL's Pet Nutrition continuing professional development vouchers or product vouchers
- 2 x registrations to the AVA Annual Conference
- two tickets to the Gala Dinner, held on the last night of the AVA Annual Conference
- a profile of the practice in the Australian Veterinary Journal and the AVAPM Leading Edge newsletter.
- trophy for display in your practice
- a chance to present and showcase your practice at the AVA national conference.
Closing date for the awards
Nominations for the 2016 award are now closed.
Stay tuned for the opening of the 2017 Practices of Excellence Awards
Springfield District Veterinary Clinic (2014 Small Animal Winner)
"Being a winner in the AVAPM & HILL's Practice of Excellence awards this year has been an absolute privilege.
Carefully completing the Practice Health Check allows us to benchmark our progress across all areas of the practice, which is invaluable. Although it does take some time to go through these processes, it enables us to discover where we can improve. Continual improvement and striving for excellence is a wonderful goal for life!
The award has also been a tremendous boost for our staff, who run this practice as though it is their own. We now have a fabulous banner on the front window and our marketing materials show the community that the AVA thinks we have done something special, that we have won a prestigious National Award. That makes us all feel very proud."
Murray Bridge Veterinary Clinic (2012 Large Animal Winner)
"The application process for the 2012 Practices of Excellence Awards proved to be a fantastic comprehensive review of our business. It highlighted how much our team had achieved over the past three years and areas where we can focus and improve in the future.
Presenting at the 2012 AVA Annual Conference provided an opportunity for us to showcase to our professional peers the many innovative changes we have implemented into the clinic. Question time at the end of the speaker session also provided some excellent critique which helped plant the seed for change in the future.
The article on Murray Bridge Veterinary Clinic in the Australian Veterinary Journal made the team extremely proud of where they work. Further to this the local newspaper has run an article on our achievement and we display with pride the Practices of Excellence logo on all our stationary, newsletters, website and emails.
The generous financial prize has been used for further continuing professional development, and the trip to the AVAPM snow conference was a fantastic learning experience and networking opportunity. I would like to sincerely thank the AVA and AVAPM for organising the award and Hill's Pet Nutrition for their sponsorship in the years to come".
