ACV holds a large annual conference. Cattle veterinarians can participate in world-class lectures as well as hands-on skills workshops. There are also opportunities for sponsors and trade exhibitors to attend and communicate with the largest audience of rural vets in Australia.
On behalf of our Presidents for ACV, Dr Craig Dwyer, and ARV, Associate Professor Scott Norman and the Executive Committees, we are delighted to present:
The 2017 ACV & ARV Conference, titled Brilliance & Bull.
The ACV & ARV 2017 Conference is being hosted in our spectacular harbour city of Sydney this year. Our conference provides a great opportunity to learn, share in new scientific research and to catch up with colleagues.
Stimulating scientific program and trade exhibition
Brilliance & Bull consists of three full days of scientific presentations from 5-7 April, being held at Doltone House, Pyrmont, Sydney NSW.
The conference is a major initiative in the AVA's comprehensive annual Continuing Professional Development Program for 2017. The ACV program showcases the latest trends in bovine veterinary practice, while ARV will hold dual stream presentations focused on multi species reproduction. You will also find out about the latest products and innovations at the trade exhibition.

Bull Reproduction Workshop
More workshops will be held in the future - check back or keep an eye out in the Moosletter for further information as it becomes available.
With growing interest in Fertility testing of bulls in dairy herds in South West Victoria and South East South Australia, a day focusing on the examination of the bovine male reproductive tract and semen evaluation will be held.
It will be conducted by Dr David Beggs (BVSc, MVS), who is a BULLCHECK™ (formally the VBBSE) accredited examiner and creator of the Bull reporter software.
The day will cover the following topics:
- External examination of the bull
- Internal examination of the bull
- Use of Bull reporter software
- Semen evaluation
- Interpretation of findings
Annually ACV receives requests from a number of members and organisations to provide support for industry field days and events in their local area.
As our annual (calendar year) budget must be approved by AVA in the last quarter of the preceding year, we often simply do not have the budget allocation to support these requests.
In order to ensure that we are fair to all members who may wish to do this, we have drafted a proforma for use to request funding/resources for 2017 to be received by 1 September 2016 to be considered in this year’s ACV 2017 budget process.
While we cant promise that all requests will be fully funded, we can ensure that they will certainly given careful consideration.
