AVA North Queensland Branch Conference
Friday, 22 September 2017 to Sunday, 24 September 2017
Holiday Inn Harbourside
Registration Form:

Registrations have opened  for the 2017 AVA North Queensland conference. The theme is 'Ill Thrift" with both small and large animal streams looking at conditions that cause chronic disease. This event will be hosted at the Holiday Inn Harbourside, Cairns, 22-24 September.

The AVA North Queensland committee has taken great pleasure in putting together a practical program that focuses on conditions that affect veterinarians in the northern regions of Queensland.

Dr Glen Coleman will be opening the conference with the history of parasitology, kick starting both small and large animal streams. This leads into Dr Con Constantinoiu's presentation on canine heartworm parasitology. Con will also be speaking on Haemonchus contortus in small ruminants in the large animal stream.

Heartworm, vaccination guidelines, parvovirus and chronic feline kidney disease are only some of the small animal presentations we have on this year’s program. Over in the large animal stream we will be looking at ill thrift conditions in cattle and horses including bovine Johne's disease and parasitism in horses.

On Sunday Dr Graham Lauridsen will be opening the day's plenary with Veterinary dealings with the world’s most dangerous bird. Graham enjoys all aspects of veterinary work in Tropical North Queensland and has co-authored a number of articles on this iconic endangered species.
