State Conference

This year's theme is Anesthesiology and will feature Dr Linda Barter (Associate Professor of Anaesthesiology, University of California, Davis) presenting a full day of lectures with topics including:

  • Veterinary Anaesthesia: What's the Real Risk?
  • Holy Hypotension Batman: monitoring blood pressure in anaesthetised patients, why and what to do about it
  • Local blocks in the anaesthetised patient, why and how
  • Balanced anaesthesia: what's it good for?
  • Anaesthesia for patients with cardiac Ds
  • Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm anaesthetising a wabbit OR anaesthetising rabbits - what's up Doc?
  • Pulse Oximeters: More than just a random number generator?



Trade Fair

The Trade Fair will run from 6.00pm - 8.30pm and is FREE to attend for all clinic staff (vets, nurses, administration staff, etc) and will feature exhibitors and their latest products, technologies and services.

Complimentary finger food and beverages will be served and many chances to win prizes supplied by the exhibitors. 



Dr Linda Barter, BVSc, MVSc, PhD, DACVAA
Dr Linda Barter was born, raised, and attended veterinary school in Sydney, 
Australia. She practiced and trained further in Australia and New Zealand before 
going to United States for a residency in Anesthesia & Critical Patient Care at the
University of California, Davis. She was board certified by the American College
of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia in 2004 and was conferred a PhD in
Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Physiology by the University of California Davis
in 2007. Dr Barter is currently on the faculty at The University of California Davis,
where she is an Associate Professor of Veterinary Anesthesiology. Dr Barter
is interested in all aspects of anesthesia and particularly enjoys teaching and
anesthetizing many different species. She has a feisty feline, two gregarious
Golden Retrievers, and a pair of clownfish.
