Small animal vets go to Hobart

Vets from across Australia will be in Hobart this week (16-20 August) for the 2010 Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association (ASAVA) conference.
More than 200 dog and cat practitioners will be attending the conference to hear from international experts.
The main focus of the conference will be on infectious and immune-mediated diseases in companion animals with a discussion of new developments in vaccination for dogs and cats. Key speakers at the conference will include:
Professor Michael Day, Professor of Veterinary Pathology at the University of Bristol (UK). Professor Day is a world expert in the field of veterinary pathology and companion animal immune-related diseases.
Professor Tim Gruffydd-Jones a lecturer in small animal medicine from the University of Bristol in the UK. Professor Gruffydd-Jones is an expert in feline medicine and a specialist in infectious diseases, gastroenterology, endocrine disorders and breeding problems in cats.
Dr Graham Swinney, current President of the ASAVA and involved in the development of the AVA vaccination policy. Graham is currently superintendent of the Sydney University Veterinary Teaching Hospital and a registered canine medicine specialist.
Dr Phil Brain, past President of the ASAVA, executive member for the last 18 years and currently a registered small animal medicine specialist practicing in Sydney.
The ASAVA is an Australia-wide organisation that represents veterinarians who are dedicated to excelling in small animal practice.
As the special interest group of the AVA representing the interests of small animal veterinarians and their patients, the ASAVA continues to provide significant and substantial member benefits.
