Craven and Neumann reports
The Craven and Neumann reports followed on from the 2003 Frawley report, and further explored particular aspects of Australia’s veterinary workforce.
Craven’s Review of Veterinary Science Education and Registration Requirements in 2005 particularly examined the role of education and veterinary registration in ensuring sustainable veterinary services.
The Neumann report Transition of Veterinary Students to Rural Practice, Continuing Professional Development and Sustainable Rural Veterinary Practices in 2007 put rural practice into the spotlight, making recommendations about strategies to address workforce issues.
The AVA response to these reports addressed the recommendations and the association’s role in workforce planning and development.
