Get a head start and be part of your future profession before you graduate. With the option of a free online membership, you can’t afford not to take advantage of all the AVA has to offer.
The AVA representative at your university organises events especially for students, and represents you to the association. AVA student prizes are also awarded each year at every university for those who excel in their veterinary studies.
Receive member discounts on veterinary books from Wiley-Blackwell Publishing and enjoy the support of your local AVA division or branch through discounted tickets to social and educational events.
Your monthly eLine newsletter keeps you up with information relevant to all student members, while the Vet Ed program can help demonstrate your commitment to continuing professional development even before you've graduated.
The AVA Graduate Mentoring Program will help you make a positive transition to work when you graduate. We also have an HR Advisory Service to answer questions about your job, no matter where you’re employed.
A free telephone support service and insurance against professional indemnity will give you even more value for your membership. Your university insurance only covers you for work that’s part of your course, but as a paid student member, your insurance is extended with the AVA Student Insurance Master Policy.
And the contacts you make as a student member can give you a real boost for practical placements and future employment.
The choice is yours:
- Basic student membership is free of charge
This is perfect for students in their early years of study. It excludes professional and personal injury insurance, and the ability to join a special interest group, but keeps you up to date with the latest news, offers member discounts to events, and keeps you in touch with Australia’s veterinarians.
- Premium student membership gives you the full range of benefits
A printed copy of the Australian Veterinary Journal, access to special interest groups and complimentary insurance coverage are all included. It’s ideal in your clinical years when these benefits are really needed.
