AVA members are able to take advantage of extra value for their continuing professional development through member discounts on a range of valuable education opportunities.

Books and journals

AVA members can claim a 20% discount off the price of books published by Wiley.

They can also subcribe at reduced rates to leading international veterinary journals - The Veterinary Record, In Practice, Clinician's Brief, New Zealand Veterinary Journal and Vetscript. (Don't forget that 2 hours of reading can earn you 1 unstructured Vet Ed point.)

AVA members receive complimentary subscriptions to Australia's leading veterinary science journal, Australian Veterinary Journal. There are also clinical journals published by the special interest groups (SIGs) Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association, Equine Veterinarians Australia and, Australian Cattle Veterinarians, that are distributed to each SIG member. Membership of the behaviour SIG includes a complimentary subscription to Journal of Veterinary Behaviour: Clinical Applications and Research, the only peer-reviewed journal that focuses entirely on veterinary behavioural medicine (six issues a year).

Events

Members are eligible for generous discounts for all AVA education and social events. SIG members are usually able to register at even lower cost for events organised by the SIGs they belong to.

Online courses

There are arrangements in place with providers of structured online learning courses for AVA members to access special reduced registration rates.

• VetScholar's six-week courses cover the full range of veterinary topics and are offered to AVA members at a 33% discount. 
• Royal Veterinary College e-CPD courses are offered at a 20% discount for members. 

Webinars

AVA and SIG members can now access regular webinars at special discounts - sometimes even at no cost!

• ASAVA members can sign up for a free monthly webinar.
• Equine Veterinarians Australia runs a regular series of webinars at reduced rates for members.
• Other campaigns and SIGs offer occasional webinars at preferential rates for members.
