AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner Education Program

Overview

The AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner™

  • is an education and accreditation program developed by vets, for vets
  • addresses personal and educational skills and knowledge identified via research conducted within the Australian veterinary profession.
  • provides a program of structured learning to increase the quality of your patient care and enhance your career progression and enjoyment of small animal general practice
  • enables you to study essential clinical and non-clinical skills with options for focused clinical and veterinary business courses

Professional accreditation

Graduates of the AVA CVP education program will meet the educational entrance requirements of AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner™ professional accreditation. 

Entry requirements

To study this program you will:

  • be a registered veterinarian in Australia
  • have completed at least three years veterinary practice (post-graduation)
  • have ongoing access to a small animal veterinary practice for the duration of your enrolment in this program
  • maintain your veterinary registration in Australia for the duration of your enrolment
  • commit to engage with the course requirements for 5-6 hours per week

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy English language requirements of a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

Education program structure

To complete the AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner™ students must successfully complete the core courses of the program.

The AVP CVP is designed to be completed part-time across two years to enable a balance between work, study, and personal life.

  • Minimum program completion:                 12 months
  • Maximum program completion:                48 months
