The Northern Territory Division represents the AVA on issues relating to animal welfare and veterinary science in the Northern Territory.

The NT Government have advised that an additional 40,000 Territorians are now eligible to receive the free Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) vaccine to ensure people living in high-risk areas are protected. Eligibility for the vaccine has been expanded due to the recent detection of JEV in mosquitoes in wetlands bordering the northern Darwin suburbs and in Tennant Creek.

At it's recent committee meeting, the AVA NT Division was joined by Dr Cindy Dudgeon from the NT Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade. Dr Dudgeon discussed the current EAD risks with the Committee.
