The year is truly running away from us now!
AVA's regular proactive advocacy efforts include meeting with veterinary boards to support the profession at state levels. AVA values the opportunity to meet with state vet boards, where the ongoing dialogue ensures that the profession's concerns are heard and addressed. The AVA's QLD Division met with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Queensland (VSBQ) in late September.
The Queensland Division has been busy across the state - President Dr Regan Lynch and senior advocacy officer Dr Robyn Whittaker have been meeting with Biosecurity Queensland, University of Queensland, the newly appointed University of Queensland Student representative - Sophie McCallum, and the Queensland Veterinary Surgeons Board. 
The annual FNQ/CQ/NQ AVA conference took place at the scenic Lake Tinaroo of the Atherton Tablelands. Despite the heavy rain we’ve been experiencing on the Tablelands, we were fortunate to enjoy a break in the clouds and a beautiful, sunny weekend.
The QLD Agriculture and Fisheries and Other Legislation Amendment Bill was passed through QLD State Parliament in 2024.
