The Tasmania Division represents the AVA on issues relating to animal welfare and veterinary science in Tasmania. They hold two major events each year, the annual conference and annual meeting.

The AVA Tasmanian Division Committee is currently seeking veterinarians who have an interest in leadership and involvement in Tasmanian issues that help to shape the profession. To satisfy diversity and represent the scope of veterinarians in Tasmania, there are places in particular for production and wildlife veterinarians.
Please join me in thanking Dr Angela Offord for her time and effort on the Tasmanian Division Executive Committee.
Behaviour problems are a leading cause of euthanasia in young dogs in Australia (RSPCA Report on Animal Outcomes 2021-2022.pdf) and extremely regrettably, some of our veterinary advice may be contributing to this statistic.
Our sights are being set on the upcoming state conference at the end of October. I encourage you to come along and bring your team for a weekend of learning and networking. I look forward to seeing you all there and discussing all things Tasmanian Vets. 
The year is speeding by and like most of you, I am feeling the increased workload. There just never seems to be enough hours in the day to get everything done.
