The AVA Victorian Division is active in lobbying government on issues relating to animal welfare and veterinary practice in Victoria.

Research is being conducted by Animal Welfare Victoria, of the Victorian general community to establish an understanding of the overall companion and hobby animal ownership landscape in Victoria and also the attitudes and issues among pet owners.

A joint working group if forming, comprised of the University of Melbourne representatives and AVA members (private practice) of varying disciplines, to discuss and have input into EMS (Extra Mural Service - of university students in clinical practice).
The Victorian Division of AVA has provided the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria (Vetboard) with a submission in response to the change in veterinary registration fees.
The AVA supports veterinarians from their first day of veterinary school in O week.
