The Western Australian Division is active in lobbying government on issues relating to animal welfare and veterinary practice in Western Australia.

The Division holds an annual conference and trade fair each year as well as a number of practitioner seminars in Perth and rural seminars in Albany, Bunbury and Geraldton.

The Division also offers a Graduate Mentor Program, where new graduates are partnered with a volunteer mentor to support them in their first year in practice.

The Industry Advisory Group for Veterinary Nursing (WA) was re-established in 2023 under the direction of the National Industry Advisory Group for Veterinary Nursing (NIAG).
The Australian Wildlife Rehabilitation Conference committee expressed gratitude for the AVA’s support of their 2023 Perth conference.
My 3-year term as the President of the AVA’s WA Division will conclude in early November. It has been a busy period for me, but a rewarding experience. It was a huge challenge to juggle the responsibilities of this role alongside my other work and family commitments, but I genuinely hope that I helped to make improvements to the profession over this time.
