CANINE PARVOVIRUS OUTBREAKS - BEST PRACTICE GUIDELINES

Canine Parvovirus is an insidious virus, causing disease in thousands of puppies and dogs across Australia every year, often in endemic areas, however outbreaks can occur and veterinarians not used to seeing the disease can be caught unaware. The ASAVA provides to members, two resource guides to help veterinarians with best practice in times of Parvovirus outbreak. These documents outline the causes of outbreaks, and best practice for prevention, as well as help in diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of cases.

INTERNATIONAL GUIDELINES FOR LONG-TERM NSAID USE IN CATS

The International Society of Feline Medicine and the American Association of Feline Practitioners have just published best-practice guidelines in the long-term use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in cats.

The guidelines combine the most current research with the knowledge and experience of the expert panel of authors, and aim to encourage appropriate NSAID therapy wherever cats will benefit from the use of these drugs.
