Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA) Workshop - Field radiology and ultrasonography

We have put together a world class line up of speakers and demonstrators for this workshop presented over 1 ½ days. Aimed at recent graduates and mixed practitioners wanting to improve their diagnostic imaging skills. It will provide the theoretical and practical knowledge to achieve optimal results from radiology and ultrasound equipment. By the end of the workshop, delegates will have the ability to know which modality best suits investigating the presumptive diagnosis and where an integrative approach will provide greater prognostication.

The compulsory theoretical component will be presented on Thursday starting at 10:30am within the conference program:

Full day practical workshop - Friday 27 May, 7.00am-3.00pm

WestVETS Equine Animal Hospital, 540 Mount Crosby Rd, Anstead

Delegates will spend a half day of each modality with hands on practical instruction of ultrasound and radiology of the distal limb in small groups with specialist instructors.

Radiology Tips and tricks for perfecting your radiographic approach to the following anatomical regions (covering the PPE and yearling radiographic views within each relevant station). Areas covered include the distal extremity, mid appendicular skeleton and proximal appendicular +/- axial skeleton.

Ultrasonography Tips and tricks for perfecting your ultrasonographic approach to the following anatomical regions: “Buttonology” and transducer manipulation (using the flexor tendons of the metacarpus), pastern/distal extremity and forelimb suspensory ligament.

Take part in an exclusive VIP hospital tour around the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.    Enjoy a light lunch and explore the park at your own pace or take advantage of a discounted koala encounter/photo.  The bus will depart from Gold Coast Convention Centre and travel 30 minutes down the Gold Coast Highway to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.  The bus will return early afternoon where you will be given the option to be dropped at the Gold Coast Airport or return to Broadbeach.  Price includes bus transfers, park entry, a light lunch and the VIP hospital tour.

Dr Kim Lim will present on fascial tension and animal biomechanical medicine and its relationship to acupuncture channel with particular emphasis on prolotherapy and its many uses in companion animals.

Dr Elaine Cebuliak will present on massage in companion animals.
