About Us

Membership to the Australian Cattle Veterinarians (ACV) is open to all financial members of the AVA who have an interest in any type of cattle work. ACV is one of the largest special interest groups with over 1200 members across Australia. Members come from private practice, government departments (including agriculture and quarantine services), research, and chemical companies. Veterinary students are also encouraged to join.

Other continuing professional development member benefits include regular webinars, ad hoc regional events, plus clinical and client information resources as well as the cattle stream at the AVA national conference.

ACV is managed by an annually elected committee of nine members.

Contact with members of the Committee can be made through the ACV office.

Accreditation Schemes

Our PREgCHECK® and BULLCHECK® schemes offer ongoing development for our members and are a crucial service supplied by the ACV.  Members can find updated accreditation scheme forms here for PREgCHECK® documents and here for BULLCHECK® documents.

Other schemes

BIOCHECK®

This software is designed to facilitate a guided consult where all the major recognised biosecurity risks were considered and assessed as they pertain to an individual farm.

WELFARECHECK®

WELFARECHECK® is a software tool that allows for a guided consultation between a producer and their veterinarian in order to produce a farm animal welfare plan that would ensure the farm satisfies their LPA animal welfare component requirements.

In many ways, operation is very similar to BIOCHECK®.  The major recognised risks to animal welfare are discussed and assessed.  Where necessary, plans to reduce the risks or improve animal welfare can be made and documented.
