Overview

Andrew joined the AIRC/CCG team in February 2015 after spending the 13 years prior as a Veterinary Nurse in Brisbane, with a stint working for a Pet Crematorium. Since 2013 he has also volunteered as a peer supporter for a national LGBTIQ+ telephone and webchat organisation and following his completion of his Diploma of Counselling in 2015, works as a paid counsellor for the service on a casual basis. Andrew is passionate about raising awareness for, and educating people about, Mental Health in the Veterinary Industry. He became an Accredited Mental Health First Aider in 2016 and completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) in May 2019. Andrew is also a member of the Australian Community Counselling Association, subscriber to the Counselling Australia Journal and Mental Health Academy. He has contributed to industry journals by authoring articles on wellness and self-care. Andrew is passionate about self-care, two of his favourite activities being yoga and roller-skating.
