Overview
AVA PetPEP is the Australian Veterinary Association’s Pets and People Education Program. An education initiative that teaches children about responsible pet ownership and safety around animals. The program was developed by veterinarians and teachers to promote safe, healthy and responsible communities through a focus on how to interact with, understand and care for animals. Responsible pet owners are the cornerstone of local veterinary practices, and AVA PetPEP is an inspirational investment in the pet owners of the future.

Who should attend
This course is aimed at Veterinarians and Veterinary Nurses who wish to present 'Caring for your pet's health' during local primary school visits.
Learning outcome
The purpose of this course is to provide the training, tools and resources to veterinarians and veterinary nurses seeking to become a PetPEP Presenter. The course contains the following sections.
- SECTION 1 | Presenter Education | where you'll find your online training module. The purpose of the module is to enable participants to:
- Present the session “Caring for your Pet’s Health”, during primary school visits
- Engage, interact with and present to children using age-appropriate language
- Access and use PetPEP activities and resources during visits; and
- Access and use PetPEP resources to promote your practice.
- SECTION 2 | PetPEP Resources | where you'll find all PetPEP activities and resources.
- SECTION 3 | Certificate and Feedback | where you'll access your certificate of achievement following completion of Section 1 activities, and is where you can provide feedback about your experience following completion of this course.
