Learning outcome

Australian vets have historically been left out of cattle worm and fluke control programs, due to an unregulated market for anthelmintics, producers treating without diagnosing and low demand for services. That is all about to change, as our favourite molecules, the Macrocyclic Lactones, and triclabendazole have been loved to death and face escalating resistance problems. Diagnostics are now essential for cattle producers, to firstly work out which products work and which ones don't, and also to tailor programs based on the needs of the mob, not just on the dates on the calendar.

Efficacy testing is a simple and reliable tool to help your producers choose appropriate products. Understanding the pharmacokinetics of the application methods and formulations is another key point.

In this webinar we will examine research from the past few decades that illuminates the path towards sustainable use of drenches and selection of the right product for each situation, as well as the principles of integrated pest management for low-risk and high-production cattle management.
