Overview

This year's Tasmanian Conference will be focused around ophthalmology and held at the Wrest Point Hobart on Friday 10 October – Sunday 12 October 2025.  Save the dates for a wonderful weekend of CPD, full trade display, the ever-popular Friday trivia night (sponsored by Provet) and the themed conference dinner on the Saturday evening.

The Tasmanian Conference 2025 will be held Friday 10 – Sunday 12 October 2025 at the Wrest Point, Hobart, and is anticipated to attract over 90 veterinary professionals from the region. 

Featuring a tabletop trade area in the plenary room to accommodate up to 20 trestle tables to showcase your latest products, services and meet with key decision makers and consumers in the veterinary profession.  All daily catering will be held in the exhibition area to ensure maximum opportunities to network with delegates during the event

Dr Simon Hurn
Simon graduated from University of Queensland in 1998. Simon initially worked in a mixed racetrack and stud practice in Melbourne before undertaking Internships in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Melbourne Veterinary Clinic and Hospital. In 2002, Simon achieved Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in Small Animal Surgery. Simon then graduated with a Masters of Veterinary Studies from the University of Melbourne in 2003. Simon started a residency program in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 2002 and achieved Fellowship of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 2006. Simon is a registered Veterinary Specialist in the discipline of Ophthalmology, has presented scientific papers overseas and published peer reviewed scientific papers in Australian and international Veterinary Journals. Simon served as President of the Ophthalmology Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists from 2008-2011. Simon is an Honorary Fellow and Lecturer of Veterinary Ophthalmology at The University of Melbourne, Faculty of Veterinary Science. Simon is a Director at All Animal Eye Services in Mount Waverley Victoria, a clinic solely dedicated to treatment of eye diseases in animals.
Ms Pei Nie Lim
Penny is a Registered Veterinary Nurse via AVNAT with a Certificate IV in veterinary nursing. She has a diverse background in small practice, mixed practice and over 3.5 years of experience in ophthalmology. Penny currently serves as a nurse manager at Casey Pet Emergency, a 24-hour emergency clinic, where she enjoys working with challenging caseloads and leading a dedicated nursing team. As a committee member of the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia, she is passionate about protecting the professionalism of veterinary nurses and advocating for continuous education and networking opportunities within the profession. Outside of clinical practice, Penny volunteers at Phillip Island Nature Parks, contributing to the rehabilitation centre caring for seabirds especially the iconic little penguins and supporting conservation eMorts for koalas and bush stone curlews.
