We were also lucky enough to have Dr Andrew Padula join us for this webinar. Andrew has had a long fascination with venomous creatures and the application of the life sciences to treat their potentially lethal effects.

Andrew holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne and is currently an honorary senior research fellow within the Australian Venom Research Unit at the University of Melbourne. He holds a European veterinary specialist qualification in production animal reproduction and medicine.  Andrew founded Padula Serums which is a specialised company that produces animal derived antisera for therapeutic and research purposes.

Dr Ellen Leister
Ellie Leister graduated from The University of Sydney in 2004. She worked in mixed practice in NSW and the UK before moving back to Brisbane and into small animal practice. Ellie commenced residency training in 2015 and achieved Fellowship of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 2019.During her training Ellie comprehensively refined the mechanical ventilation techniques used in the hospital. This resulted in an ever-improving survival rate of snake bite patients receiving life support.
Dr Robert Webster
When Rob Webster graduated from the University of Queensland in 2001 he went straight into emergency practice and never left! Working as an emergency veterinarian in South-East QLD Rob developed expertise in primary accession and referral management of snake bite patients including mechanical ventilation strategies. Rob became a registered specialist in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care in 2014, and was soon approached by a talented general practitioner Dr Ellie Leister, to supervise her in achieving the same qualification.
