On-Demand THRIVE | Welcome Back: Creating a culture of care and connection after workplace absence.
22 September, 2025 @ 12:30 pm - 22 September, 2026 @ 1:30 pm AEST
Free
Returning to work after a period of absence, whether due to mental health challenges, parental leave, injury, or personal circumstances, can be one of the most emotionally vulnerable moments in a team member’s working life. How we handle that first day, first week, and first month, can either reinforce trust and belonging or deepen their anxiety and disconnection.
In this RUOK? Day webinar, Rosie Overfield will focus on how to make time away from work, and the return to work, feel safe and supportive. Attendees will learn how to appropriately stay connected with absent team members, and how to welcome returning team members with empathy and needs-based communication – a respectful, non-judgmental style that centres on human needs such as safety, belonging, contribution, and autonomy. By focusing on what people truly need, not just what they’ve been through, this approach helps avoid “othering” returning team members or treating them as fragile or separate. Instead, it fosters reintegration in a way that honours dignity, supports confidence, and helps the individual (and the team) function with trust and unity.
Who should attend
All members of the veterinary team.
