Shape Your Branch Event

January 1 @ 12:00 am - December 31 @ 12:00 am AEDT

We’ve listened to your feedback and are trialing a new approach to branch events. We appreciate your patience and feedback while we undertake this trial.

It starts with a tentatively scheduled social event for your branch. You can then further shape your event by using some of the suggestions below to turn it into a CPD event or further develop it in another way.

Not sure what to do? That is ok, the event can go ahead as a simple social dinner at a local venue, giving members the chance to connect in a relaxed and informal setting.

Final details will be confirmed six weeks before the event, with registrations opening four weeks prior.

Who should attend

Everyone is welcome!

  • A speaker or facilitator recommendation (where relevant)

Your feedback will help us create an event that’s valuable, engaging, and relevant for veterinarians in your branch.

Further details

If your event includes CPD, please include a speaker suggestion where possible.

Guest Speaker Presentation – CPD

These events feature an invited veterinarian or industry expert presenting on a topic of clinical, professional, or emerging interest.

Topics might include new approaches to diagnosis or treatment, insights from specialty practice, research updates, or professional issues affecting veterinarians.

Guest speaker sessions offer structured CPD and plenty of opportunity for discussion and Q&A.

Please note that guest speakers will usually incur a fee, which may result in a higher ticket price. Pricing will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis.

Case Discussions – CPD

Case discussions are relaxed, peer‑led sessions where members are welcome to bring along a case that has challenged, puzzled, or inspired them.

This could be a tricky diagnostic work‑up, a treatment dilemma, an ethical question, an unusual presentation, or even a case with a great outcome worth sharing.

The focus is on open discussion, shared learning, and connecting with colleagues in a supportive environment.

Journal Discussions – CPD

Journal discussions (also known as journal club) give members the chance to discuss a journal article, guideline, research paper, or other professional resource they’ve found interesting.

Together, participants explore the evidence, how relevant it is to practice, its strengths and limitations, and whether it might influence clinical decision‑making.

These sessions support CPD, build critical appraisal skills, and help members stay up to date with changing areas of veterinary practice.

Mentor & Mingle – CPD

Mentor & Mingle events offer a relaxed, small‑group setting where veterinarians can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.

These sessions typically bring together veterinarians at different career stages, creating space for open conversation around clinical practice, career development, challenges, and opportunities within the profession.

The focus is on connection, mentoring, and shared learning in a supportive and welcoming environment, often paired with informal discussion over food or drinks. Mentor & Mingle events can attract CPD where applicable.

Social Events

If we don’t receive any event ideas or CPD suggestions from branch members, the event will simply be a social dinner at a local restaurant.
