Veterinarians are people as well as professionals, and the AVA community supports members on a personal as well as a professional level.
The association’s VetHealth initiatives grew out of members’ concerns for the wellbeing of their colleagues, and this is now an important issue within the profession.
The free AVA Telephone Counselling Service is available 24 hours every day to help when things may not be going too well. The trained counsellors can also give you useful advice about how to help an immediate family member in trouble.
The Benevolent Fund is there for practical and financial assistance to veterinarians and their families in times of hardship. All help is kept completely confidential.
