Our Centre for Professional Success gathers together the best tools and resources to help you build a successful business, and achieve your objectives as a veterinarian.

The clinical resources provided by AVA special interest groups keep you up to date on practical tools and information that help you do your job better. With a range of educational events around the country, specialist journals and regular email communication, special interest groups provide crucial clinical continuing professional development services to their members.

AVA Vet Ed is a key member benefit. Members are entitled to discounts for attending AVA events, along with special prices for more structured online education courses. Members can also participate in our points program at no charge.

There are several services providing free telephone advice to help you with advice on issues that may come up in your professional life.

  • HR Advisory Service – all you need to know about being an employer or employee
  • Business Advice Helpline – advice about all things financial
  • Telephone Counselling Service - qualified counsellors available 24 hours to talk through issues and provide free advice

For members in practice, the AVA runs a number of accreditation programs that demonstrate your commitment to excellence in veterinary practice.

Our Work Health and Safety Resource has been designed especially for veterinary practices, and is a detailed resource tailored to the requirements of your state or territory legislation.

International benefits

The AVA is a member of the International Veterinary Officers Council (IVOC). IVOC is an annual meeting held in an effort to promote dialogue and collaboration among the CEOs and Presidents of six member organisations including:

Reciprocal benefits of IVOC associations include:

  1. Three months’ free membership. So, as an AVA member, if you travel to any of the above listed IVOC countries, the first three months' membership of the association is free.
  2. Members of IVOC associations receive concession rates for national conferences. Therefore, AVA members can register for any of the member association conferences at the member rate.
  3. Membership of IVOC associations may be counted towards AVA life membership.
