The Australian Wildlife Rehabilitation Conference committee expressed gratitude for the AVA’s support of their 2023 Perth conference.
The Queensland CVO has advised of the commencement of the Animal Care and Protection Regulation 2023 (the 2023 Regulation) on 1 September 2023, made under the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 (the Act).
The Minister made a commitment to get the request for HECS relief onto the Commonwealth Agriculture Ministers’ meeting agenda.
Our sights are being set on the upcoming state conference at the end of October. I encourage you to come along and bring your team for a weekend of learning and networking. I look forward to seeing you all there and discussing all things Tasmanian Vets. 
With the year fast disappearing, the Victorian Division is excited to announce a conference day and dinner on Friday November 17th to be held at Melbourne Zoo. “Human Skills for Animal Experts” is an opportunity for all members of the veterinary team to develop their abilities that relate to how we work and interact with other people, including self-awareness and emotional intelligence, boundaries, and difficult conversations.
My 3-year term as the President of the AVA’s WA Division will conclude in early November. It has been a busy period for me, but a rewarding experience. It was a huge challenge to juggle the responsibilities of this role alongside my other work and family commitments, but I genuinely hope that I helped to make improvements to the profession over this time.
