This week, the AVA welcomed the NSW Government’s response to the Inquiry into Veterinary Workforce Shortages in New South Wales report and recommendations. While we would have liked to see more commitment on timeframes and funding for key recommendations, we look forward to working with the NSW Government to implement recommendations aimed at addressing workforce shortages, mental health, and regulatory reforms.
AVA's regular proactive advocacy efforts include meeting with veterinary boards to support the profession at state levels. AVA values the opportunity to meet with state vet boards, where the ongoing dialogue ensures that the profession's concerns are heard and addressed. Spring has officially sprung! So too has our official equine breeding season, and all the lovely warm weather joys - tick paralysis cases, bee stings, snake envenomation and so on. I do hope you are all managing to find some “down time” to balance the hard work.
A highlight this month was connecting with colleagues in the UK to exchange insights, deepen my understanding of the unique challenges they face, and gain a greater appreciation for their extensive advocacy efforts.
