Remote Sonography: A Game-Changer in Veterinary Ultrasound Diagnostics (Advertorial)
30 Apr 2025Remote sonography is transforming veterinary practices by enabling clinics to access expert ultrasound guidance without the need for an in-house specialist. Using Samsung V-series ultrasound systems, remote sonography offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional on-site services, allowing clinics to connect with experienced sonographers and enhance diagnostic precision while reducing operational costs.
The Pilot Program: VetsCentral Leads the Way
In March, Croydon Park Vet, part of VetsCentral, became the first Australian clinic to use remote sonography. Facilitated by ATX Solutions, this pilot uses the Samsung Vet V8 ultrasound system, allowing Croydon Park Vet’s team to perform ultrasounds with remote guidance from ATX’s sonographer. Through SonoSync, the sonographer remotely controls the system, captures images, and generates reports while collaborating closely with the team.
Key Imaging Technologies
Samsung’s ultrasound systems provide outstanding clarity with features like CrystalBeam and CrystalPure, ensuring excellent image resolution for accurate diagnostics.
Being able to control the ultrasound remotely is a game-changer. “It takes one aspect of image acquisition away from the sonographer, allowing the on-site team to focus entirely on probe position. This is especially valuable when learning. As we work together through each case, the team continues to learn how to acquire the right information for a good image,” said ATX’s ultrasound expert, Dr. Lisa Weldon.
Remote sonography has also enhanced the Croydon Park Vet team's ultrasound skills, with Dr. Weldon training them through the pilot program.
By integrating remote sonography, Croydon Park Vet has reduced the need for a full-time ultrasound specialist, saving costs while improving diagnostic capabilities. “It’s a great opportunity for our team to get familiar with ultrasound technology without needing additional specialized staff,” said Dr. Lachlan, Chief Veterinary Officer at VetsCentral.
Market Context
The Australian veterinary ultrasound market is growing rapidly, projected to expand from USD 11.1 million in 2023 to USD 18.5 million by 2030. Samsung’s innovative ultrasound systems, combined with remote sonography, offer a competitive edge over other premium systems.
Dr. Christina from Croydon Park Vet shared, “Our experience using the Samsung ultrasound system has been excellent. The image quality is very detailed, and the vets love it.”
Sarah Sujin Yu, Clinical Marketing Manager at Samsung Healthcare, added, “Partnering with ATX Solutions to introduce remote sonography to Australian veterinary practices marks an exciting step forward in veterinary care. Through this pilot program, we're eager to demonstrate how our advanced ultrasound technology, combined with ATX expertise, can enhance diagnostic accessibility and precision for clinics across Australia.”
While still in the pilot phase, remote sonography with Samsung ultrasound systems is set to transform the access to specialised veterinary care, improving diagnostic accuracy, reducing costs, and enhancing care across Australia.
