The AVA works with members on submissions to local, state and federal governments. This is a chance for AVA members to help shape policies which affect the veterinary profession. See below for the latest submissions, and to have your say.

The AVA provided a submission to the WA Government on the development of regulations relating to the sterilisation of dogs, pet shops, dog supply approval, approval to breed, microchipping and dog registrations.
The Australian Veterinary Association supports the primary thrust of the proposed amendments to the Kosciuszko National Park Wild Horse Management Plan 2021 (KWHMP 2021), as they align with our policy on the control of feral horses and other Equidae.
The AVA has consulted with the ACT Division Committee and the Unusual Pet and Avian Veterinarians (UPAV) Executive Committee to seek expert member input to inform this submission on the proposed new Small Mammal Code of Practice (CoP). Members of the AVA ACT Division Committee and the UPAV Executive Committee who have extensive expertise and experience in this area have been the contributors to this feedback.
The AVA have provided a submission to the Queensland Government consultation on proposed changes to the Queensland Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 to better protect their community from dangerous dogs.
The NSW Division committee thanks members for their feedback which has assisted to inform the AVA submission to the Inquiry into Pounds in NSW.
