Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2023-2033

28 Feb 2023

A new ten-year national strategy for work health and safety (WHS), the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2023-2033, has been released, after having been developed by the ACCI and members of Safe Work Australia, with consultation from over 150 stakeholders and agreement from all Australian governments. It will underpin the ACCI’s WHS work plan over the decade and sets an ambitious national vision for WHS outcomes in Australia: safe and healthy work for all.

The Strategy is an evidence-based strategic document that sets an overarching national framework for WHS jurisdictions to adapt and align activities and areas of focus. The overall unifying national goal is to reduce worker fatalities, injuries and illnesses.

The Strategy outlines targets to measure progress over the next decade, and builds on progress made under the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012–2022, which has seen injury and fatality rates fall significantly over the past decade.

The Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2023-2033 is available on the Safe Work Australia website.
