This week, AVA president Dr Bronwyn Orr and AVA CEO Dr David Andrews attended The Veterinary Kaleidoscope Summit (TVK Summit), the first Australian event specifically about exploring diversity and inclusion in veterinary science.

The TVK Summit brought together leaders of diverse backgrounds from various sectors of the veterinary profession to share personal stories, identify areas for progress and equip delegates with the skills to enhance inclusiveness in their workplaces and communities.

The TVK Summit was included in the Pride Amplified program as part of World Pride Sydney 2023 and was awarded an Accelerate Sydney Business events grant. It featured speakers from Cultural and Linguistically Diverse, LGBTIQA+, disabled and Aboriginal backgrounds, as well as those who have experienced mental health challenges.

AVA president Dr Bronwyn Orr said, “The TVK Summit brought to the fore the need for increased inclusion and celebration of diversity in the veterinary profession. The entire profession benefits when we celebrate and embrace diversity. Congratulations to the organisers and participants for a vibrant conference.”
