AVA well represented at the centenary celebrations for veterinary legislation in NSW

2024 marks the centenary of the commencement of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1923 in NSW. This milestone was recently celebrated at Government House in Sydney. The AVA was well represented by AVA Director and Vice President Dr Sally Colgan, NSW Division President Dr Zach Lederhose and numerous other AVA members, including a number of past AVA Presidents.

There were several speeches and the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC recognised and congratulated the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) for the work that is being done around the veterinary workforce shortage.

“The event was a fabulous representation of 100 years of regulated veterinary science in NSW and it was an honour for the profession to be recognised this way. The evening only serves to highlight from both an historic and a contemporary perspective, the importance of the veterinary profession,” said AVA Vice President Dr Sally Colgan.
