Dr Diana Barker represented the AVA last week at the centenary of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) hosted by the new Ambassador of France to Australia.

“It was a great honour to represent the AVA at the event and celebrate WOAH, an organisation that does essential work to improve animal health and welfare across the globe, as well as to fostering a One Health approach, recognising that the health of animals, humans and the environment are interdependent,” said Dr Barker.

It was also an excellent opportunity to engage with a number of stakeholders of importance to the AVA. While in Canberra Dr Barker also attended other meetings to discuss the AVA’s agenda, including the Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Beth Cookson. The topics of discussion with Dr Cookson and her colleagues were centred around veterinary workforce matters and advocacy projects, including the AVA’s prebudget submission.
