Flynn's Walk coming to Brisbane in 2023

15 Jun 2023

Flynn's Walk is walking and talking to highlight the challenges many in the veterinary field face, spread awareness in the wider community and put the focus on well-being.

Flynn’s Walk is coming back to Brisbane in 2023, starting and finishing from New Farm Park, right next to Brisbane Power House. The event is FREE to attend and open to all – not just members of the veterinary community. It follows an accessible walking route which is mostly flat with a some steady ramped walkways and no steps. Walkers can choose to walk just part of the route, or the entire thing.

Thanks to the Petbarn foundation, free coffee, tea and hot chocolate will be available before the walk, and a free sausage sizzle (including vego + gluten free options) will be held at the end.

Flynn's Walk – Brisbane

Flynn’s Walk was founded in 2018 following the incredibly sad loss of veterinarian Dr Flynn Hargreaves. The walk was created to honour his memory, bring together the community and spread awareness of the mental health issues faced by veterinary professionals.

Their aim is to help break down the stigma surrounding mental health challenges and suicide – both significant issues in the veterinary industry. By holding public walk events, they raise the profile of veterinary mental health and bring awareness to the community.

Flynn's Walk is an Australian registered health promotion charity and endorsed deductible gift recipient.
