Mark your calendars now: Monday 27 May 2024 (9am-5pm). AVA Conference, Melbourne.

Our second THRIVE Wellness Symposium will inspire and empower you to improve wellbeing and foster positive change in the workplace. It is about community, re-establishing connections and giving you the permission to invest in yourself.

Facilitated by Rosie Overfield, this is an interactive and dynamic day, and suitable for all members of the veterinary team. You will walk away with new knowledge, new skills and new connections that will make a direct difference to the effectiveness and wellbeing of you and your team.

Program highlights include:

  • Embracing vulnerability and the 7 elements of trust - Judith Krause, Australian Certified Facilitator of The Daring Way™.
  • Self-Compassion - Judith Krause (learn more about Judith Krause here)
  • Interactive workshops and panels - What makes a team safe? | What makes a team great?

Get ready to map the change you wish to see in your practice!

Building on Judith Kraus's sessions on self-compassion and team trust, the interactive workshops allow participants to turn their attention to their workplaces and learn how to contribute effectively to building psychological safety in veterinary teams. They will include expert panellists and those with lived and living experiences who share their insights and best practice examples across the profession. You will workshop these concepts as part of this session and take home a plan for change.

  • Cultivating Safe Teams pilot program case studies.
  • How to have a healthy performance culture but not at the expense of wellbeing – Carly Webster, Aspect Group.
  • Mindful movement and wellbeing ‘snacks’ from Rosie Overfield throughout the day

AUDIENCE: Practice owners, directors, veterinarians, veterinary nurses, receptionists, and any other veterinary personnel. This is an inclusive and welcoming day for everyone in our profession.

As with all THRIVE activities, we are using an integrated wellness framework to underpin our learning deliverables: Preventing mental health injury from psychosocial hazards in the industry, Promoting the positive aspects of work as well as worker strengths and Protecting individuals who are experiencing mental ill-health so they can return to work and thrive.

The year ahead is looking very positive indeed as we continue to rollout the Cultivating Safe Teams pilot program, embrace our industry specific mental health and suicide prevention framework, and deliver both online and face-to-face wellness events to all veterinary team members.

THRIVE is committed to supporting veterinarians and veterinary staff to lead satisfying, prosperous and healthy careers. We look forward to sharing more details with you on all our upcoming wellness events very soon!
