Equine Dentistry Essentials, 3-Day Workshop and Wetlab For Veterinarians.
Three days of immersive evidence-based education focused on gold-standard equine dental care. Learn practical, real-world techniques from experienced Western Australian equine veterinarians who perform advanced dentistry every day. Learning outcomes
This Workshop and Wetlab will cover:
- Performing a detailed external and intraoral examination.
- Anatomy, ageing and nomenclature. Understand exactly what you are looking at.
- Common and uncommon pathology, grounded in the latest research.
- Treatment planning. Modern techniques, realistic limitations and how to avoid common pitfalls.
- Sedation, analgesia and nerve blocks.
- Dental radiology and image interpretation.
- Routine performance floating on cadavers and live horses.
- Extractions, including theory and cadaver practice on request.
- Pulp capping and introductions to what is possible (restorations and endodontics).

Dr Kirsten Jackson BSc BVMS (Hons), PhD, MANZCVS (Equine Dentistry)
Owner and Director of Dental Vet, Western Australia’s first purpose-built equine veterinary dental clinic. With more than 17 years of experience as an equine veterinarian, she has focused almost exclusively on advancing equine dentistry throughout this time.
Kirsten achieved Membership in Equine Dentistry with the Australian and New Zealand College of Scientists in 2012 and completed her PhD at the University of Western Australia in 2021, where her research into equine peripheral caries contributed important new understanding to the field. Her work had been published extensively in leading international journals and presented at national and international conferences. She has undertaken advanced training in Europe in endodontics and restorative procedures and continues to drive innovation in equine dental care.
Dr. James Meyer BSc(PV) DVM MANZCVS (Equine Dentistry) CertAVP (Equine Dentistry)
In 2021, he passed his Membership examinations in Equine Dentistry with the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary, followed by the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Equine Dentistry) in 2025. He is now the Head Subject Examiner for Equine Dentistry with the ANZCVS, as well as Co-Editor for the AEV Journal.
