Veterinary Practice Group Package
One fee.
Your whole team covered.
All SIGs included.
The new AVA veterinary practice group package is designed to make whole-team membership affordable for practices of every size. One annual fee covers your entire eligible workforce at a significantly lower per-head cost than individual membership, with every team member receiving full AVA All Access including access to all 19 Special Interest Groups at no extra cost.
In member research conducted in 2025, practice leaders told us they wanted an easier, more affordable way to bring their whole team into AVA. The group package is a direct response to that.
Great veterinary care is delivered by whole teams. Veterinary nurses, technologists and practice managers face the same workforce pressures, the same wellbeing challenges and the same need for professional development and community as the vets they work alongside.
When your whole team is in AVA, everyone has access to CPD and professional development, peer networks and the AVA Member Hub, the 24/7 counselling service and wellbeing support, and the advocacy that shapes the conditions they work in every day.
It also matters for your practice. When nurses and technologists feel professionally supported and connected to something beyond the clinic, it shows in retention, team cohesion and the standard of care your patients receive.
Find your practice tier
Two factors determine your tier: total staff headcount (over 18 years old) and number of veterinary premises. Find the description that matches your practice and that is your tier. All tiers include AVA All Access membership for every covered team member.
Not the right fit for your practice? Team members are always welcome to join AVA individually. See individual membership options.

Your questions answered about AVA’s group package membership
Being a member of the Australian Veterinary Association means you’re one of the thousands of fellow veterinary professionals represented by Australia’s leading veterinary professional association.
AVA membership connects your whole team to Australia’s national professional community for veterinary science — the CPD, peer networks, clinical resources and wellbeing support that help every member of the practice do their best work and stay in the profession longer.
With the group package, every team member receives their own All Access membership, including:
- Access to all 19 Special Interest Groups and the Australian Veterinary Journal
- Evidence-based CPD, webinars and an interactive CPD tracker
- Significant discounts on national conferences and events
- HR resources and advisory support
- Wellbeing support through THRIVE and 24/7 counselling
- Member discounts with BOQ, Guild Insurance, BMW and Qantas Club
For most practice sizes, the per-head cost comes in well below the individual rate of $888 — making it one of the more straightforward investments you can make in your team.
AVA has offered team-based membership for practices for several years. In member research conducted in 2025, practice leaders told us it needed to be simpler and better value. You asked for one fee, whole team covered, and done. The 2026 group package is exactly that.
The key changes are:
- One annual fee based on your actual workforce size and number of premises, with six tiers reflecting the real range of practices across Australia.
- Every covered team member now receives full AVA All Access membership including access to all 19 Special Interest Groups at no extra cost.
- Onboarding is handled by AVA. Each team member receives their own activation email and sets up their own profile.
If you are currently on the AVA teams membership, we will be in touch directly to walk you through the transition. Any questions in the meantime, contact our membership team.
Great veterinary care is delivered by whole teams. Veterinary nurses, technologists , practice managers and staff face the same workforce pressures, the same wellbeing challenges and the same need for professional development and community as the vets they work alongside.
Including your whole team means every person has access to professional development opportunities across 19 Special Interest Groups, peer networks and the AVA Member Hub, the 24/7 counselling service and wellbeing support, and the advocacy that shapes the profession they work in.
It also strengthens AVA’s collective voice on the issues that affect your practice directly, including workforce planning, regulation, scope of practice and funding.
No. The group package is whole-of-team coverage by design. Every team member over the age of 18, including veterinarians, nurses, technologists, practice managers and staff must be included. This ensures every person in your practice has access to the professional development, wellbeing support and community that AVA provides.
Not the right fit for your practice? Team members are always welcome to join AVA individually. See individual membership options.
Yes. All employees in your core workforce over the age of 18 years old must be included regardless of employment type. Full-time, part-time and casual employees are all counted. Regular contractors and locums must also be included. Short-term or ad hoc arrangements for temporary cover, such as sick leave or annual leave relief, do not need to be included.
Each fixed location where clients receive veterinary services counts as a separate premises. This includes your main clinic, branch clinics, satellite clinics and after-hours facilities. If you operate a mobile-only business, your package tier is assessed on workforce size rather than number of vehicles or service areas. Organisations that do not meet the premises threshold but operate as a national corporate group, a multi-state network or employ 400 or more staff across their organisation may still qualify for the Large Multi-site / Corporate package. If you are not sure, reach out to our member services team for help.
Yes. If you operate multiple practices under common ownership or management, both headcount and premises are counted across all related entities. You cannot split a related group into separate packages to access a lower tier. If your organisation operates across multiple states, functions as a national corporate group or employs 400 or more staff, you may qualify for our Large Multi-site / Corporate package. Contact our member services team to discuss the right fit for your organisation.
Not a problem. New starters can be added during the year at no extra cost within your current tier. When someone leaves, notify AVA and their access ends. No refunds apply for individual departures. If your team grows beyond your current tier threshold, the upgrade applies at your next annual renewal.
Existing individual members can be rolled into the group package. Contact our member services team for assistance on 1300 137 309, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm (AEST/AEDT).
Complete our expression of interest form and our membership team will be in touch to guide you through the process.
To prepare, you will need to provide your ABN, organisation contact details, a staff list including each person’s name, role, membership category and contact details, confirmation of your number of premises and a declaration for Allied Professional team members. At renewal, you will need to provide an updated staff list and confirm your current headcount /premises and allied professional declaration.
To get you set up, AVA works with you to confirm your ABN, premises and staff list — a straightforward part of the process that helps ensure your group package is correctly sized. If your team grows beyond your current tier during the year, the upgrade simply applies at your next renewal.
Where a practice has underreported staff or premises, reclassification may apply and the difference becomes payable. We would always rather work through it with you than have it come up at renewal.
