
Course summary
This course provides advanced training in the professional handling of veterinary ethical and legal challenges. Frameworks to structure these decisions will be introduced, focusing on common veterinary ethical dilemmas, while being mindful of ethical and legal requirements. Other skills to be explored include the professional handling of errors, complications, and animal welfare issues in clinical practice. The role of veterinarians in societal wellbeing and health will be introduced.

- Apply decision-making frameworks for legal, professional, ethical and animal welfare concerns in veterinary practice.
- Apply appropriate techniques to professionally manage errors and complications in veterinary workplaces – factoring in all stakeholder perspectives.
- Gain an understanding of the concepts of one-health and one-welfare, and their importance in the veterinary profession.
