Veterinarians can undertake Micro Learning modules or single CVP Courses to suit specific interests, or work towards full AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner™ (CVP) accreditation.
Vets who complete the requirements of the accreditation will be eligible to apply for the AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner™ designation, which comes with postnominals and represents a benchmark of excellence in small animal general practice.
The AVA CVP pathway supports veterinarians to deepen both clinical and non-clinical capabilities, strengthen professional confidence and progress towards recognised accreditation.

Micro Learnings are short, 100% online and self-paced offerings designed to help veterinarians explore specific CVP domains before progressing further.
Micro Learnings:

Each CVP Course:
- Runs over 6–8 weeks
- Requires approximately 6–8 hours of study per week
- Includes short video lectures, readings, practical learning activities and online discussions
- Includes interactive online sessions with course educators and peers
- Includes practical, case-based assessment
- Provides structured CPD points
- Is supported by expert facilitation and peer interaction

The AVA Chartered Veterinary Practitioner™ accreditation recognises veterinarians who have undertaken further education and training to become well-rounded practitioners. This accreditation is currently available for small animal practitioners.
To become accredited, veterinarians complete the required eight (8) CVP Courses along with structured continuing professional development, CPD, in approved areas of interest. Relevant CPD activities completed up to five years prior to enrolment, as well as those completed within five years after enrolment, may count towards accreditation.
