That’s a Wrap: Brisbane’s 2026 AVA Conference

The 2026 AVA Conference has drawn to a close, capping an extraordinary week at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre that brought together more than 1,000 veterinary professionals from across Australia and around the world. From 18 to 21 May, delegates gathered around the theme “Connection, Collaboration, and Knowledge”, with the program shining a spotlight on neurology, behaviour, practitioner health and wellness, and the rich exchange of ideas that defines our profession.

Seeing more than 1,000 veterinary professionals come together in Brisbane around the spirit of connection, collaboration, and knowledge has been a privilege. The energy in every session, on the exhibition floor, and at the Gala Dinner is a testament to the profession’s commitment to learning and connection,” said Meredith Flash, AVA Head of Education and Events.

The AVA commends our world-class keynote speakers for setting the tone for an exceptional program. Professor Marion Desmarchelier shared her expertise in zoological medicine and veterinary behaviour, Professor Joe Mayhew of Massey University delivered masterful insights into large animal neurology, Professor David Hayman illuminated the complex world of epizootic epidemiology and disease ecology, and Professor Holger A. Volk advanced our understanding of small animal neurology. Their generosity in sharing their knowledge will continue to shape clinical practice across Australia long after delegates return home.

The conference simply would not be possible without the unwavering support of our sponsors. A heartfelt thank you to our Platinum Sponsor, Hill’s Pet Nutrition; our Gold Sponsors, IDEXX and Sound Veterinary Equipment; and our Silver Sponsors VetzPetz, Purina Institute, CVS, Royal Canin, Guild Insurance, Troy Laboratories, Provet, and VetPartners. Thanks also to our Bronze Sponsors Anigen, Bionote, and Vcheck, and to BOQ Specialist, Zoetis, Stress-Free Pets, and VetCheck 247 for their valued support across awards, streams, breakfasts, and social events.

To every exhibitor, congratulations on the creativity, energy, and craft you brought to the exhibition hall. The stands were vibrant, informative, and a credit to the teams behind them.

Wednesday evening’s AVA Awards Gala Dinner was a true highlight, with the Plaza Terrace Room transformed for a memorable Bridgerton-themed celebration.

The AVA offers its warmest congratulations to this year’s awards recipients. Each of the winners exemplify the very best of our profession, and their achievements will inspire the next generation of Australian veterinarians.

We are already looking forward to the 2027 AVA Conference in Melbourne. You can find more details at the event website.
