On-Demand AVBM Webinar | Don’t forget about dementia: Pets get it too | Dr Sagi Denenberg

8 October, 2025 @ 8:00 pm - 9 October, 2026 @ 9:00 pm AEDT

Free - $50.00

Advances in veterinary medicine, nutrition, and standards of pet ownership have contributed to increased longevity in dogs and cats. However, with this extended lifespan comes a higher prevalence of age-related conditions, including degenerative joint disease, sensory decline, and cognitive dysfunction.

Cognitive dysfunction is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that results in a range of behavioural changes such as disorientation, altered social interactions, disruption of sleep–wake cycles, and shifts in activity patterns.

This lecture will review the current understanding of the pathogenesis of cognitive dysfunction, approaches to diagnosis, and strategies for management. Treatment considerations will include pharmacological options, dietary interventions, and behavioural support.

Although a cure is not yet available, early recognition and timely intervention can significantly improve the quality of life for affected animals, providing both patients and their owners with greater comfort and hope.

Who should attend
