Find an AVE work experience placement

The AVE candidate list service is provided by the Australian Veterinary Association Ltd (AVA) for the benefit of its members. Its purpose is to connect potential AVE candidates with veterinary clinics.

Veterinary clinics are responsible for assessing the suitability of any AVE candidate prior to engagement. Clinics must also ensure compliance with all legal requirements, including obtaining any necessary permits and arranging medical examinations or checks as required. Clinics should confirm that appropriate professional liability (PL) and public indemnity (PI) insurance is in place and covers the AVE candidate during work experience.

The AVA, its officers, and directors accept no liability for any loss, damage, or expense incurred by a veterinary clinic arising from the use of this service, including the introduction or engagement of any AVE candidate.

All arrangements relating to remuneration and conditions of the work experience placement must be agreed directly between the veterinary clinic and the AVE candidate. Work experience is intended primarily to support the candidate in preparing for their clinical examination and is typically unpaid. A written agreement outlining the terms of the placement should be established between both parties.

Any employment arrangements or additional remuneration beyond the work experience placement must be negotiated separately between the veterinary clinic and the AVE candidate.
