The AVA submission was developed through consultation with the AVA Western Australia Division Committee, the Australian Greyhound, Working and Sporting Dog Veterinarians Group (AGWSDV) Committee, the Australian Veterinarians for Animal Welfare and Ethics Group (AVAWE) Committee, the AVA Western Australia Membership, and is based on AVA policies.
Inquiry Terms of Reference:
The Committee will inquire into and report on the greyhound racing industry in Western Australia, with a particular focus on animal welfare and industry transparency, including:
a) industry practices and operations
b) the current governance arrangements, compliance and enforcement mechanisms
c) data collection, accessibility and reporting
d) adoption, rehoming programs and post-racing care
e) any other matters the Committee considers relevant.
