George Osborne Memorial Lectures – 2027 Application

The George Osborne Memorial Lectures are open to interested members who are either students or postgraduate members of up to 15 years from graduation and who have not presented at an Australian Cattle Veterinarians conference previously.

The lectures are named in honour of the late George Osborne, who was a prominent veterinary educator and cattle veterinarian, remembered for his communication skills and efforts in developing and encouraging young veterinarians towards a career in cattle practice.

 

AWARD INCLUSIONS

The winners (up to three) will receive:

  • The opportunity to present to your peers at the upcoming ACV/SCGV Conference in Hobart – March 15-17, 2027.
  • Complimentary full registration for the 2027 ACV Conference, including:
    • Access to all conference sessions
    • Meals with conference delegates, including lunch, morning and afternoon tea
    • Gala Dinner
  • A travel stipend of up to $1000 to support your attendance.

AWARD ELIGIBILITY

The George Osborne Memorial Lectures are open to cattle veterinarians that meet the following criteria:

  • current AVA and ACV members
  • students or veterinarians up to 15 years from graduation
  • have not presented at an ACV conference previously

WINNERS AGREE TO:

  • Plan to stay for the whole conference.
  • Have their mobile number and email address circulated to ACV staff members and executive committee members to facilitate communication prior to and at the event.
  • Allow their photo be published on the Awards section of the ACV webpage.

  • Be responsible for any or all other arrangements and expenses (including travel and accommodation) before, during and after the conference.

APPLICATION DETAILS

  • Applicants must complete the application form below to be considered.
  • Opportunities are available to AVA/ACV members only.
  • Non-members can join before December 2026 to be considered.
  • Applications close on Sunday 13th December 2026.
  • Winners will be notified by the ACV Office via email once the successful candidates in early 2026 before early bird closes

OTHER INFORMATION

  • If suitable applicants are not forthcoming, ACV may vary the award as they see fit.
