Expression of Interest: NSW DCCEEW Animal Ethics Committee Veterinarian Member

The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking expressions of interest from veterinarians to join its Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) as a Category A member.

The committee is responsible for reviewing, approving and monitoring animal research and teaching activities conducted by DCCEEW staff. Projects overseen by the AEC include wildlife capture and handling, as well as observational studies such as bird surveys, spotlighting and remote camera monitoring.

Committee members play an important role in ensuring research is conducted ethically and in accordance with NSW animal welfare legislation, balancing potential benefits to humans, animals and the environment against impacts on animal wellbeing.

This is an opportunity for veterinarians with an interest in animal welfare, wildlife and research ethics to contribute their expertise to the management and conservation of native and introduced fauna across NSW.
