Step Forward for Your Profession: Nominate for the AVA WA Division Executive Committee

Western Australia’s veterinary profession is facing ongoing change – from workforce pressures and wellbeing, to regulation and sustainability. A strong profession needs a strong voice, and that voice is the AVA.

Nominations are now open for the AVA WA Division Executive Committee, and this is your chance to help shape the future of veterinary practice in WA.

Nominate here by Friday 20 February 2026.

Recently, the Chair of the WA Veterinary Practice Board reminded the profession that meaningful advocacy depends on participation. Much of the AVA’s work happens behind the scenes, driven by volunteers who influence policy, represent the profession to government and regulators, and support professional standards.

The AVA is strongest when its leadership reflects the profession it serves. By stepping forward for the WA Division Executive Committee, you are helping ensure that WA veterinarians remain represented, supported and heard.

Joining the WA Division Executive Committee gives you a “front seat on the change bus”. It’s an opportunity to influence advocacy priorities, build leadership experience, expand your professional network, and contribute to a sustainable profession. Participation is flexible and designed to fit around busy veterinary careers, with the added wellbeing benefits of “Acting, Belonging and Committing”.

You don’t need prior committee experience – just an interest in improving the profession in WA.

If you care about the future of veterinary practice in WA, now is the time to step forward
