Hello, I am excited to introduce myself as the new President of the Western Australia AVA Division. Whilst I have been on the committee and a representative for the Northern branch for a number of years now, this is definitely a big step for me.
I was born and raised in Dampier in the Pilbara region, a place that deeply influenced my passion for animals of all species and drove my desire to work in the veterinary field. After taking the long road (with a few detours on the way) I graduated from James Cook University in 2012 and have since worked in various states and different areas of veterinary science, gaining a wide range of experiences and exposure to different states regulations and governing bodies.
In July 2025, I took an important step in my journey by starting my own business, Pilbara Vet Care, a mobile veterinary service providing access to veterinary care throughout the Pilbara region, from dogs and cats, to horses and cows, right through to marine mammals and land reptiles.
I’m passionate about our industry and truly believe in the power of advocating for our profession and representing the diverse voices within it. My goal as President is to work alongside an amazing team of vets to support the advocacy and evolution of the WA veterinary family and ensure that we continue to shape our profession for the better.
One of my recent experiences that I’m particularly proud of was providing the emergency veterinary response in Exmouth following Cyclone Narelle. It was both extremely challenging and rewarding, but that’s a story for another time!
I’m truly excited about the future and look forward to working with all of you to make a positive impact in the veterinary community here in Western Australia. Let’s collaborate to ensure our profession continues to thrive!
