Ever wondered how epidemiology data can be applied in practice? We will explore various risk factors for different types of colic that can be considered when a horse does not yet fit clearly into a surgical or medical category. In addition, we will evaluate the evidence of benefit, cost and owner affordability in specific medical and surgical interventions.

We will also discuss how knowledge of epidemiology can lead to risk reduction, earlier intervention and improved outcomes.
